OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO women's soccer team fell to Oral Roberts 2-0 on a windy Friday at the UNO Soccer Field.
With winds gusting up to 30 mph, the Golden Eagles took advantage in the second half with the wind at their backs, scoring two goals to take the win and improve to 5-3-2. The Mavericks (0-10) controlled play with the wind at their backs in the first half, but
Layla Ashouri's shot off the right post was as close as the Mavs could get to scoring.
Oral Roberts went up 1-0 at 49:51, as Mary-Kate Halsmer slipped behind the defense and took a through ball from Megan Giles. Halsmer finished the breakaway to break the deadlock.

Meaghan Clark dove and deflected the PK off the left post, but it bounced back to Martin, who finished the rebound.
ORU outshot Omaha 10-7 overall and 5-2 in shots on goal. UNO dominated the first half with a 4-0 shot advantage, but Oral Roberts owned a 10-3 margin in the second half.
Sarah Nordstrom's 20-yard strike midway through the first half was the Mavs' lone shot on goal, but Ashouri also bent in a shot from the left side of the box off of the right post, narrowly missing giving the Mavs the lead. In the second half, a shot from outside the box by Ashouri was saved by a diving Helen Erb.
UNO continues its stretch of three home games in a row with its first Summit League contest next Friday, as Fort Wayne visits for a 4 p.m. match at the UNO Soccer Field.
