OMAHA, Neb. – The UNO baseball team closed its weekend series at UNLV on Sunday, suffering a 20-1 loss at Wilson Stadium. With the loss, the Mavericks are now 11-25 on the year, while the Rebels improve to 17-19.

Colby McCord (2-for-5) and freshman
Alex Mortensen (2-for-3) both had multi-hit games, while sophomore
Ryan Tomlinson had a hit and a run scored.
UNLV pounded out 20 runs on 22 hits for the day, led by Brandon Bayardi's 4-for-6 showing with three runs scored and four RBI. Trevor Kirk also finished 4-for-6 with three runs driven in and another tri of runs scored. Kirk and T.J. White both homered for the Rebels, with White's a three-run home run in the fifth and Kirk's a two-run shot in the seventh.
UNLV starter Brandon Borden (1-3) earned the win, surrendering one run on five hits. Over his six-inning outing, Borden struck out four and walked three. The loss went to redshirt freshman
Zach Williamsen (2-2), who gave up seven runs on nine hits over 3.1 innings with a strikeout and a walk.
The Rebels got off to a hot start with four runs scored in the first inning. UNO managed its only run of the game in the top of the fourth, with Tomlinson singling in junior
Connor McCrite from second. From there, the UNLV offense took over, plating runs in every remaining inning for the 20-1 final score.
UNO returns to action April 17-18, traveling to Minnesota for a pair of midweek games. First pitch on Tuesday is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn., and live stats and live audio will be available for both games of the series.
