FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The UNO baseball faced its first future Summit League opponent on Friday, falling 4-0 in the series opener to IPFW at Mastodon Field. With the loss, the Mavericks are now 9-17 on the year, while IPFW improves to 6-17.

Brady Hohl led the way with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate, extending his team-leading hitting streak to 18 games. Senior

Alex Mortensen each tallied a hit apiece.
IPFW pounded out four runs on 11 hits, with Daren Boss going 4-for-5 and scoring twice. Clay Hathaway also went 2-for-5, and Malcolm White was 1-for-3 with a run scored and three RBI.
Charles Weaver (1-3) earned the win with a complete-game effort, scattering five hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Sophomore
Josh Bullock (0-2) took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits with six Ks and a walk.
The Mastodons plated one run in the third and added three more in the fifth. Boss doubled to left center to lead off the fifth, and Carter DeBoe was hit by a pitch, with both runners scoring on White's two-run double to right. White later came in on Lucas Salarno's walk, pushing the score to 4-0 for the winning tally.
The IPFW pitching staff held UNO off the basepaths for the final three innings, quelling the opportunity for a Maverick rally.
