Mavs and Beavers Skate to 1-1 Tie

Box Score Box Score

OMAHA, Neb. – Bryce Aneloski scored with 3:40 remaining in the third period to give the UNO Mavericks a 1-1 tie with Bemidji State on Friday night at the CenturyLink Center.

The Mavericks are now 12-10-5 overall and 9-6-4 in the WCHA.  Bemidji State is 12-12-3 overall and 6-10-3 in the league.  The two teams finish the series on Saturday night at 7:07 p.m.

On the play, Aneloski got off a shot from the right point.  The puck was blocked right back to him so he fired a wrist shot that fluttered by goalie Dan Bakala for his third goal in as many games.  Jaycob Megna and Brent Gwidt picked up the assists.

Both teams had a pair of shots in overtime.

The Beavers broke the scoreless tie just 54 seconds into the second period when Radoslav Illo wired a shot that caught the top corner of the net for his seventh goal of the year.

Ryan Massa made 27 saves in his return from a concussion suffered two weeks ago at Minnesota State.  Bakala stopped 37 shots for the Beavers who are now unbeaten in their last five at the CenturyLink Center (3-0-2).
