Seattle was hitless until the fourth inning and got on the board in the fifth, putting up one run via two hits. Riley Tompkins started with a single to right, followed by Nate Roberts' infield single and a walk by Sean Narby to load the bases. Trent Olszczuk then drove in Tompkins with a sacrifice fly to center, making it 1-0 in favor of the Redhawks. Junior
Zach Croonquist then entered the game in relief of Landis, halting the scoring and leaving SU's two runners on base.
UNO responded by tying it at 1-1 in the next frame when McCord homered to right with two outs, marking UNO's first roundtripper of the year.
The Mavs took the lead in the top of the ninth, plating a pair of runs. Palensky drew a leadoff walk and later advanced to second on a wild pitch, then scored on Waldron's RBI single to right center. Senior
Cory Buckley, who reached base with an intentional walk, came in on sophomore
Ryan Tomlinson's RBI hit to left, pushing UNO ahead 3-1.
Seattle managed one more score in the bottom of the ninth when Roberts' RBI single through the left side scored pinch runner Michael Tevlin. After Winkelmann fanned two batters – both looking – Cullen Hendrickson earned his way on with a walk to load the bases. The Redhawks were unable to come up with the tying run, however, and a final fly out gave Nebraska Omaha the 3-2 win.
