HOUGHTON, Mich. – Zahn Raubenheimer scored his second goal of the night with just 1:10 remaining to propel the Omaha hockey team to a 2-1 win over Michigan Tech on Friday night.

The Mavericks improve to 3-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the WCHA while Tech dips to 2-5-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the league.  The two teams will play again on Saturday night at 6:07 p.m. CT.

The winning goal came during UNO's seventh penalty kill of the night.  Raubenheimer stickhandled through two Michigan Tech defensemen and then cut to the backhand, slipping the puck under goalie Kevin Genoe.

The first period was spirited but scoreless thanks to goalies John Faulkner of UNO and Genoe.  Genoe was the busier of the two as the Mavs outshot the Huskies, 7-2.

Raubenheimer had a highlight reel goal to open the scoring early in the second period.  He took a pass from Johnnie Searfoss, roared in on Genoe and while he was being dragged down, slipped a shot underneath him for his second goal of the year.

Tech tied the game at 15:30 of the second.  Blake Pietila got off a shot that Faulkner stopped, but Tanner Kero scooped up the rebound and threw it just under the crossbar to tie the game 1-1.

Faulkner stayed unbeaten on the year, improving to 3-0-1 with 21 saves.  Genoe stopped 26 shots as his record dipped to 1-1-0.
