VERMILLION, S.D. - The UNO Maverick women's soccer team earned its first Division I win on Sunday with a 3-2 come-from-behind effort at Summit League foe South Dakota.
The Mavs (1-1) scored two second-half goals off corner kicks to rally to win. The Coyotes fell to 0-2 on the season.
South Dakota struck first when Makena Cameron scored her first goal of the season in the 12th minute off assists from Jenny Teslow and Rebecca Pederson.
The Mavs didn't take long to answer though, as
Danielle Archuleta scored UNO's first goal of the season in the 19th minute to draw even at 1-1.
Hilary Jackson assisted the goal.
The Coyotes regained the lead in the 29th minute off of a Colleen Reeves goal. USD took the 2-1 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Mavs came back by converting two corner kick opportunities into goals. In the 55th minute, UNO scored off of an own goal following a
Monica Bosiljevac corner kick to level the score at 2-2. Then at the 66:00 mark,
Jordyn Braun scored off of a
Hayley Renshaw corner kick to put UNO in front, 3-2.

Katelyn Tschida made two saves in the win.
The Mavericks outshot South Dakota 12-8 and held a decisive advantage in corner kicks at 12-2.
UNO plays its first home games of the season at the UNO Soccer Field next weekend. On Friday, the Mavs host Central Oklahoma at 5 p.m. Then on Sunday, UNO plays Midwestern State at 1 p.m.
