OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The 21st-ranked UNO softball team defeated Central Missouri, 3-0, in the first round of the MIAA Softball Tournament on Friday. 

The Mavs moved on to the second round, where they will face Fort Hays State at 3 p.m.

Sarah Elliott hit an RBI single to score Alli Hukill in the third inning, then Amber Lutmer connected on a two-run homer to right center for a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning.

Beth Haley was dominant on the mound in improving to 20-3 on the year. Haley went the distance, allowing just one hit and striking out 10.

Emma Wright added two hits for the Mavericks.
