HAYS, Kan. – The UNO women's tennis team earned its second straight win on Saturday, defeating Fort Hays State 6-3 on the road. With the victory, the Mavericks improve to 6-6 (2-2 MIAA), while FHSU drops to 4-7 (1-2 MIAA) on the year.
Nebraska Omaha swept doubles work, starting with juniors #
Heather Hottman and Samantha Thomas taking an 8-4 win over Melissa Skovira and Brianna Watkins. Junior Traci Moklestad and sophomore Amanda Henkel# then topped Laura Johnson and Brittney Shea 8-6, and juniors #
Caitlin Christy and Diana Dobey# defeated Megan Quinley and Zoie Young, 8-3.
In singles action, the Mavericks grabbed three wins, with two in straight sets. Moklestad earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 1 line, and Hottman bested Young at 6-1, 6-3. Dobey also moved past Shea by a 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 score, helping Nebraska Omaha to the 6-3 win.
UNO returns to action on Friday, April 8, traveling to Missouri Western. The conference match is set for 4 p.m. in St. Joseph, Mo.
