Box Score Box Score

OMAHA, Neb. – The No. 19 UNO Mavericks skated to a 2-2 tie with St. Cloud State on Sunday afternoon at the CenturyLink Center.  The tie gave UNO three of four points from the two-game WCHA series.

The Mavericks improved to 7-6-3 overall and 6-3-3 in the WCHA, moving into a tie for second with idle Minnesota Duluth.  The Huskies are now 6-7-3 overall and 4-4-2 in league play.

For the second game in a row, the Huskies struck first.  Brooks Bertsch collected the rebound of a shot by Travis Novak and lifted the puck under the crossbar at 6:23 of the opening period.

UNO responded with 13.7 seconds remaining in the period.  While on the power play, Brock Montpetit walked out to the left face off circle and snapped a shot just inside the far post past goalie Ryan Faragher.  The goal was the first for Montpetit since opening night when he had two against Mercyhurst.

The Mavericks took their first lead of the game midway through the second period.  Terry Broadhurst sped down the left wing and just before running out of room, he dropped the puck back to Matt White who fired home his sixth goal of the year.

St. Cloud State tied the game late.  Novak dug the puck off the right-wing wall and found Ben Hanowski who fired a quick wrist shot past Dayn Belfour to make it 2-2 after two periods.

Belfour made the save of the game with less than two minutes remaining in the third.  He stopped a bid in close from Mitch MacMillan to keep the game tied.

The Mavericks will play their next four games on the road beginning with a non-conference series against Alabama-Huntsville on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 and 3.  The games will be played at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., home of the NHL's Nashville Predators.
