Box Score
TOPEKA, Kan. - The Mavericks struck early on the way to a 7-2 win Sunday at Washburn to wrap up the regular season and clinch at least a share of their first MIAA title. Nebraska-Omaha improved to 45-9 and 18-2 in the MIAA, winning its 25th straight game.
The Mavericks will now be either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the MIAA tournament and will play at 6 p.m. Thursday in the first round. They'll also play that day at 8 p.m. in either a second round or consolation round game.
The Mavs and Emporia State currently have two MIAA losses. If the Hornets fail to sweep at Southwest Baptist on Tuesday, then the Mavericks will be the MIAA champions outright. Two wins from the Hornets would mean UNO and ESU share the title.
