OMAHA, Neb. - Nebraska-Omaha right-hander #
Joe Holtmeyer# has been selected as a finalist for the Tino Martinez Division II Baseball Player of the Year Award. Media and coaches from across the nation have cast their votes and narrowed down the list of 38 semifinalists to six finalists. This is the first year the award will be given out.
Holtmeyer finished his sophomore season with a 9-2 record, 2.89 ERA, 152 strike outs and 35 walks in 87 1/3 innings pitched with opponents hitting just 1.57 against him on the year. His 152 Ks are tops in all of NCAA baseball. Holtmeyer
was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Pitcher of the Year on May 6 and South Central Region Pitcher of the Year on May 13.
Each of the finalists is their respective conferences' player or pitcher of the year and all rank amongst the NCAA leaders in major statistical categories. Three regular position players and three pitchers have made the final list of nominees and represent six of the eight DII baseball regions. The winner of the award will be announced on Monday, May 31.

Fans and supporters can cast a vote for their favorite student-athlete. The Internet vote will be used in the final calculation to determine the winner.
The winner will be announced on Monday, May 31st.
