Tournament Results

St. Joseph, Mo. - The No. 5 seeded Mavericks were defeated 5-1 in their MIAA Tournament semifinal match against Northwest Missouri at the St. Joseph Tennis and Swim Club on Saturday evening. UNO's potential third place match against Emporia State will depend on an available venue, which will be decided early Sunday morning. The loss against the Bearcats drops the Mavericks to 8-8 overall on the season, with a 3-4 record in regular season Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. No. 1 overall seed Northwest Missouri State moves on to the finals where they will meet No. 2 seeded Washburn.

Doubles play started well for the Mavs as #Kelsey Haas and Traci Moklestad# won in No. 1 doubles over Veronica Castilla and Lisa Pendrak of Northwest Missouri, 9-8. However, #Mary Lausten and Kelsie Olson# could not clinch a second doubles victory as they dropped a close one in No. 3 doubles, 8-5.

The Mavericks were unable to accomplish much in singles play as #Samantha Thomas# lost in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-2. #Kelsie Olson#'s loss in No. 3 singles ended it for UNO when she fell to Sureena Weir of NWMSU, 6-1, 6-2.

Emporia State, the Mavs' potential third place opponent, lost at home to UNO earlier in the season 5-4. #Mary Lausten# clinched the Mav victory that day as she defeated Alex Crowe of ESU in No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
