KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Mavericks scored 15 runs, gave up one and went error-free on defense as they swept Truman in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon. Nebraska-Omaha, now a winner of 18 straight, took the opener, 7-1 and then won the closer, 8-0 in five innings.
The Mavericks pounded out 21 hits, including three home runs. Now with 53 blasts, UNO needs one more home run to tie 2003's school record of 54.
The pitchers were just as solid. #
Lindsey Slocum# started game two and faced the minimum 15 batters as the Mavs envoked the run rule after five innings.
On an 0-2 court, she allowed a leadoff single in the first inning and then that base runner was thrown out trying to steal second. That hit was the only thing that kept her from throwing her second perfect game of the season as she retired the next 14 batters in order.
Slocum struck out six. Aside from the single up the middle of the infield, no other ball reached the outfield.
#
Beth Haley# gave up three hits in the opener, one of them a solo home run for Truman's only run of the day. She struck out six and walked two.
Hukill went 4 for 5 in the games with five RBI. She had a three-run homer in game one. Slocum and #
Katelyn Hinton# both homered in the second game. Hinton finished 4 for 7 with four RBI.
