TOPEKA, Kan. - The Maverick women's tennis team was unable to make it two wins in as many days as they fell to the Washburn Ichabods on Saturday afternoon. The 7-2 loss was the Mavericks' fifth overall on the season, dropping them to 7-5 and 3-2 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Meanwhile, the Ichabods catapulted to 4-0 in the MIAA and 9-5 overall.

No. 1 doubles pairing, #Kelsey Haas and Traci Moklestad#, lost to Alyssa Castillo and Trang LeNguyen of WU, 8-4. However, UNO was able to gain one doubles victory this weekend as #Mary Lausten and Kelsie Olson# knocked off Annie Doole and Kristin McKee in No. 3 doubles, 8-3.

There was not a comeback victory to be seen in the singles competition this time as senior #Kelsey Haas# of Lincoln, Neb., was the lone singles victor as she won at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Haas' win is her eighth overall in singles this season. The victory is her fifth consecutive in the competition as she is now 7-2 in her last 10 singles matches after starting the season 1-4.

The women's squad returns home to Omaha for a match against the University of Sioux Falls. The non-conference match is slated to start at 1 p.m. this Thursday.
