Box Score

OMAHA, Neb. – #Eddie DelGrosso# had a three-point night and became UNO's all-time leading defenseman scorer as the Mavericks beat the Bowling Green Falcons 6-1 to sweep their best-of-three, first round CCHA playoff series, 2-0.  The Mavericks won by the identical score in game one on Friday night.

UNO has now won five straight first-round CCHA playoff series and has won six straight series overall.  The Mavs advance to likely play Ferris State in the second round of the playoffs next weekend.  Final opponents will be determined following the conclusion of all first round games.

The Mavericks improve to 20-14-6 overall.  It is their first 20-win season since 2005-06 and just their fourth in school history.

As with Friday's game, the Mavericks scored four second-period goals to seize the advantage.  #John Kemp# opened the scoring with a slap shot that beat goalie Nick Eno at 7:28.

#Jordan Willert scored the eventual game-winner when he knocked in a pass from Dan Swanson# at 12:56.  Both of Willert's goals this season are game-winners.

UNO then scored two goals in a span of 18 seconds to put the game out of reach.  #Alex Hudson# scored on a wrist shot from just inside to blue line to make it 3-0.  #Jeric Agosta# followed with a shot through traffic that chased Eno in favor of back-up goalie Andrew Hammond.

The Falcons broke #Jeremie Dupont#'s shutout bid when Brennan Vargas scored off a netmouth scramble at 6:06 of the third.

Bowling Green looked to have closed the gap to two goals on a powerplay goal halfway through the period, but the referees ruled that the puck had been kicked in.

UNO then goal goals from DelGrosso and #Mark Bernier# on the powerplay to close the scoring.  DelGrosso's came when he took a feed from #Nick Fanto# and snapped a wrist shot over Hammond's shoulder for his seventh goal of the year.  It was also his 108th career point, moving him past former Maverick and current Minnesota Wild defenseman Greg Zanon into first on UNO's all-time list

DelGrosso then set up Bernier for his career-high fourth goal of the season to ice the game just 51 seconds later.

Dupont made 16 saves to earn his seventh win of the year.
