OMAHA, Neb. - #Lindsey Slocum tossed a perfect game in the second game of a doubleheader Sunday against Missouri Southern to help head coach Jeanne Scarpello# set the UNO coaching win record.

The Mavericks out-slugged the Lions in both games, shortening them each to five-inning affairs. The Mavs took the opener, 18-0 and the second game, 9-0. They improved to 18-7 and 4-0 in the MIAA while the Lions dropped to 9-19-1 and 0-2.

Slocum faced the minimum 15 batters in game two and struck out 10 of them. No Lion put a ball in play in fair territory until the fifth inning when the lead off hitter flew out to centerfield. The next batter tried bunting to get on, but Slocum fielded the ball and threw her out at first.  She then got the next batter to pop up to #Treightin Yates# at second base to give her the gem.

She struck out the side in both the first and fourth innings. MSSU had a player foul out in both the second and third inning. The fifth inning was the only one Slocum didn't record a strikeout.

The win in game one put Scarpello in a tie with Mary Yori, her predecessor, with 459 wins. Game two's win put her all alone in first with 460 wins. Scarpello is already UNO's leader in career winning percentage, now with a .759 mark.

#Beth Haley# was also very strong in the circle in the first game. She went all five innings, allowing four hits, two in the final inning. She struck out six and walked none.

Already leading 6-0, she got a lot of help in the bottom of the fourth when the Mavericks scored 12 runs. Slocum hit a grand slam to cap the inning that saw 16 players come to the plate. The Mavs had six other RBI hits in that inning.

Yates went 3 for 3 with three RBI and six other players had two hits.

The offense kept at it in game two, getting the nine runs in the first three innings.

#Julia Krejci hit a two-run home run in the first inning to get things started. Katelyn Hinton tripled in the second inning to drive in Emma Wright#. #Alli Hukill then drove her in with a single and then Krejci hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Hukill. Kristin Wellwood# followed with a two-run single.

In the third inning Yates drove in a run off a single and then a groundout from Krejci drove in a run, giving Krejci an RBI in each of the first three innings.

#Molly Feichtinger# went 4 for 7 in the two games and scored six runs.
