BEMIDJI, Minn. – The UNO Mavericks were shut out for the first time this season, losing to Bemidji State, 3-0, on Friday night at the Sanford Center.  The Beavers scored a goal in each period to win in the first ever meeting between the teams in Bemidji.

The Beavers broke the ice during a delayed penalty at 9:02 of the first period.  Jamie MacQueen threw the puck at the net, and Jake Areshenko tipped it past #John Faulkner# for his first career goal.

Bemidji State doubled its lead during a five-on-three power play in the second period.  Ian Lowe jammed in his own rebound off a feed from Jordan George, giving him his seventh goal of the year.

Emil Billberg added an even-strength goal in the third to ice the game.

Faulkner made 22 saves in the loss while Bemidji State's Dan Bakala earned his second straight shutout with 25 saves.  The Beavers blocked 18 shots in front of him.

The two teams will conclude the series on Saturday night at 7:07 p.m.
