OMAHA, Neb. – #Alex Hudson# scored with three-tenths of a second remaining in regulation to give the UNO Mavericks a 1-0 win over North Dakota on Saturday night at the Qwest Center.  The win gave the Mavericks a split of the two-game series against one of college hockey's perennial powers.

The Mavericks are now 9-2-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the WCHA.  The Fighting Sioux fall to 8-5-1 overall and 7-3-0 in the league.

The winning goal came because of good persistence by #Matt Ambroz who took a pass from Terry Broadhurst#, broke down the right wing and got off a shot.  He followed his own rebound, knocking that off the skate of a UND defender to Hudson who rammed home his sixth goal of the year.

The referees reviewed the play to ensure that the goal had been scored before time expired.  The clock read 0:00 as the Mavs celebrated.

UNO had been carrying the play in the last three minutes of the third thanks to a late power play.  Bryce Aneloski had a good chance denied when he rang the puck off the post.

The Mavericks relied heavily on goaltender #John Faulkner# who earned his third shutout of the year with 30 saves.  Many of his best came in the first and third periods, first as the Sioux tried to establish the tempo and later as they pressed for the go-ahead goal.

The Mavericks will get next week off before returning to the road on Dec. 3 and 4 to face fellow WCHA newcomer Bemidji State.
