OMAHA, Neb. – #Alex Hudson# scored two goals, and the UNO Mavericks held on for a 2-1 win over the Alaska Nanooks on Saturday night at Qwest Center Omaha.  The win gave the Mavericks the split of the four-game season series.  UNO is now 10-9-5 overall and 6-8-2-1 in the Central College Hockey Association.

The Mavericks are back on the road next week for two games at Lake Superior State.  The two teams will square off on Friday, Jan. 15 and Saturday, Jan. 16 at 6:05 p.m. CT each night at Taffy Abel Arena in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

In the first period, UNO got the lead just as its second power play ended.  Hudson knocked in the rebound of a shot by #Nick Fanto# for his second goal in as many nights.  The Mavericks led 1-0 after one.

Hudson struck again midway through the second period.  With the Mavericks enjoying a four-on-three power play, he got free at the top of the faceoff circles and ripped a shot past goalie Scott Greenham for his sixth goal of the year.

Carlo Finucci tightened the game at 7:47 of the third period when he beat #John Faulkner# with a hard wrist shot over his blocker hand.

Finucci nearly tied the game but rang the post with a turn-around shot later in the period as Faulkner closed with several strong saves to preserve the win.

Faulkner finished with 21 saves to earn his eighth win of the year.  Greenham, again bombarded with 36 shots, made 34 saves.
