Sara Reeves# scored a career-high 12 points in the final eight minutes Thursday night at Southwest Baptist to lead Nebraska-Omaha to a 59-52 comeback win at Meyer Sports Center.
The Mavericks improved to 9-6 overall and 4-4 in the MIAA while the Bearcats dropped to 3-12 and 1-7 in the league.
Reeves, a freshman guard, sat out the first half and then played 12 minutes in the second half. She shot 5-for-7 from the field in that span and her 12 points were enough to lead the Mavericks.
The rest of the UNO squad shot just 15 of 49 (31 percent) and overall, UNO shot 36 percent from the field. #

Jamie Nash and Alyssa Green all scored nine points each. Ashley Nelson# led the Mavs with six rebounds.
The Mavericks were down by nine at the 11:04 mark of the second half. Green then hit a bucket to cut the lead the seven and then Reeve caught fire after that to help erase the deficit.
Reeves missed her first two shots in the second half and then hit her final five. Her first basket, a lay-up at 8:21 started a stretch where she scored nine straight points for the Mavs to bring them within a point of the SBU lead.
She was fouled making a lay-up at the 5:10 mark and she converted the three-point play to make the score 46-45, SBU. Green then hit two free throws to put the Mavs up by one and then after a steal by #

The Mavs pushed the lead to six on a fastbreak bucket by Nash with 2:45 remaining and then neither team scored again until Nash's free throw at 1:12 gave UNO a 55-48 lead.
The Bearcats got within five twice after that but the Mavs held on.
The Mavericks edged SBU in rebounds, 39-34 and committed 16 turnovers while the Bearcats had 17. UNO was out-stolen for just the fifth time this year. SBU had eight while the Mavs had seven.
The two teams started slowly and they were tied, 6-6 at the 13:52 mark. The Bearcats went on an 8-2 run after that to go up by six. UNO then clawed to within one point at the 6:46 mark, but the Bearcats went on an 8-0 run to lead by nine, 28-19 with 2:33 left in the half.

Kiley Herold# and then a pair of free throws by Nelson in the final minutes pulled UNO within five at halftime, 31-26.
Chasity Prince led the Bearcats with 14 points and Courtney Heady had 12.
