Weekly Release
OMAHA, Neb. - The 23rd ranked University of Nebraska at Omaha softball team will face three different opponents this week. The Mavericks will square off in a doubleheader with MIAA foe Northwest Missouri State on Tuesday, April 7 in Maryville, Mo. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. On Wednesday, April 8 the Mavs will return home to host Upper Iowa in a pair of games starting at 3 p.m. UNO will remain home for a weekend doubleheader with another MIAA foe, Fort Hays State at 12 p.m. The home games will be held at Claussen-Westgate field.
The Records
The Mavericks improved their record to 26-7 on the season and 2-2 in the MIAA after sweeping in-state rival Nebraska-Kearney and splitting a pair of home doubleheaders with Emporia State and Washburn. Northwest Missouri State is 11-27 overall, 2-6 in the MIAA and 1-3 at home. Upper Iowa has a record of 14-10 on the year and is 3-2 on the road. Fort Hays state is 3-5 in MIAA play, 10-8 on the road and 21-22 overall.
The Coaches

Jeanne Scarpello# is in her tenth season as the UNO head coach. She entered the 2009 season just three wins shy of reaching 400 wins for her career. She reached that milestone in just the fourth game of the season when the Mavs defeated Saint Edward's on February 21. Her record now stands at 423-129-1 including four conference titles, nine straight trips to the NCAA Division II tournament, and a national championship in 2001. She is assisted by Michala Cimino (12th season), #
Cory Petermann# (9th season), and Steven Boulton (1st season).
Season Leaders

Treightin Yates# leads the team in batting average hitting .299. Yates is also the new team leader in hits (30), and is tied with #
Katelyn Hinton# for the team lead in runs (18). Hinton continues to lead the team in RBI (25) and home runs with 6. #
Beth Haley# leads the team in strike-outs with 74. #
Melissa Negrete#, who improved to 10-3 last week, leads the team in wins and era with a 1.08 earned run average.
The Series
UNO has a commanding lead in the all-time series against Northwest Missouri State. The Mavs lead that series by 24 games, 39-15. In the series against Upper Iowa, UNO has a perfect record of 2-0. Saturday will mark the first meeting between the Mavericks and Fort Hays State.
Coming Up
UNO will play host to a pair of MIAA conference opponents next weekend. The Mavericks will take on Missouri Western in a doubleheader on Friday, April 17 at 3 p.m. On Saturday, the Mavs will face off against Truman State in another doubleheader to begin at 1 p.m. Both sets of doubleheaders can viewed by coming out to Claussen-Westgate Field for the games.
