Weekly Release
The 19th-ranked University of Nebraska at Omaha softball team will travel to three different MIAA schools this week. The Mavericks will square off in a doubleheader with Pittsburg State on Tuesday, April 21 at 1 p.m. This weekend, the Mavs will travel to a pair of MIAA foes. On Friday, April 24 UNO will face Southwest Baptist in a doubleheader at 2 p.m. The Mavericks will wrap up this week's action on Saturday, April 25 when they take on Central Missouri in another doubleheader at 1 p.m.
The Records
The Mavericks improved to 35-10 on the season and 9-3 in the MIAA to clinch a berth in the MIAA Tournament being held April 30-May 2. Pittsburg State is 27-18 overall, 7-5 in MIAA and 11-5 at home. Southwest Baptist has a record of 20-32 on the year, 3-13 in the MIAA and is 5-9 when playing at home. Central Missouri is 15-1 in MIAA play, 9-1 at home and 31-9 overall.
The Coaches
#
Jeanne Scarpello# is in her 10th season as the UNO head coach. She entered the 2009 season just three wins shy of reaching 400 wins for her career. She reached that milestone in just the fourth game of the season when the Mavs defeated Saint Edward's on February 21. Her record now stands at 432-132-1 including four conference titles, nine straight trips to the NCAA Division II tournament, and a national championship in 2001. She is assisted by Michala Cimino (12th season), #
Cory Petermann# (9th season), and Steven Boulton (1st season).
Season Leaders

Treightin Yates# continues to lead the team in batting average hitting .343. Yates is also the team leader in hits (46) and runs (28). #
Katelyn Hinton# continues to lead the team in RBI (28) and home runs with seven. #
Melissa Negrete#, leads the team in wins with 13 and era with a 1.39 earned run average. #
Lindsey Slocum# is the new team leader in strikeouts with 99.
The Series
UNO has the series advantage over all three opponents this week. The Mavs hold the lead over Pittsburg State in the all-time series with a record of 10-4. The Mavericks also hold a six game lead in the all-time series with Southwest Baptist with a record of 7-0. UNO holds a commanding lead over Central Missouri with an all-time record of 18-6.
Coming Up
UNO will travel to Joplin, Mo., to take on Missouri Southern in the regular season finale of the MIAA schedule. The two-game series will take place on April 27 at 1 p.m. On April 30, the Mavs will head to Overland Park, Kan., to take part in the postseason MIAA tournament. Opponents and times are still to be annonced.
