Kristin Wellwood drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 2-1 win against St. Mary's and then the Mavericks were shut out in a 4-0 loss against eighth-ranked Southeastern Oklahoma State in the final day of the SOSU South Central Shootout.
Nebraska-Omaha went 4-2 in the season-opening tournament and will continue action with six games next weekend in the Missouri Southern/Pittsburg State Crossover.
Lindsey Slocum walked to lead off the seventh against the Rattlers and then a sacrifice bunt from
Treightin Yates moved her to second base. One batter later and with two outs, Wellwood singled through the left side to drive in Slocum.
The two teams were scoreless until they both tallied runs in the sixth off home runs. UNO's came from
Katelyn Hinton as she drove one over the left field fence.

Beth Haley improved to 3-0 as she allowed one run off three hits with nine strikeouts and just one walk.
In the second game
Ashley Lynch kept UNO from getting no-hit with a two-out single in the fifth.
Melissa Negrete (1-2) got the loss as she allowed the four runs off nine hits with four strikeouts.
