MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan Wildcats beat the UNO hockey team 6-3 on Saturday night, sweeping a two-game series at the Berry Events Center.  The Mavericks fought back from a 3-2 deficit in the third period but surrendered three straight goals to lose their third straight game.

UNO is now 5-4-3 overall and 2-4-2-1 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.  The Wildcats improved to 5-5-2 overall and 4-3-1-0 in the CCHA.

#Alex Hudson# scored his first goal of the year, tapping in a feed from #Mark Bernier# at 7:45 of the third period to tie the game at 3-3.  The Wildcats responded with goals from Phil Fox just 40 seconds later and another from Ray Kaunisto before Hudson's goal was even two minutes old.

Mark Olver fired into an empty net to complete the scoring.

The Mavericks got off to a quick start as they did the night before as #Joey Martin# scored his fifth goal of the year, wristing a shot past goalie Brian Stewart at 2:31.

The Mavericks doubled their lead late in the first period when #Jeric Agosta# fired a shot on goal from the right wing.  Stewart made the save, but a Northern Michigan player knocked the puck into his own goal while defending #Rich Purslow#. 

Northern got on the board at 5:30 of the second period.  Tyler Gron tapped in a goal-mouth feed from Andrew Cherniwchan to make it 2-1.

Greger Hanson tied the game when he batted in a loose puck off a net-mouth scramble at 13:03. 

Northern took its first lead of the game at the end of a penalty kill.  Olver got free for a shot that trickled in off the glove of UNO goalie #John Faulkner# to put the Wildcats up 3-2 after two periods.

#Jeremie Dupont# came in for Faulkner in the third period and made 11 saves on 13 shots but took the loss.  The six goals against are the most surrendered by the Mavericks this season.

The Mavericks return to action on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 27 and 28 when they host the Western Michigan University Broncos.  Friday's game begins at 7:35 p.m. and Saturday's contest starts at 7:05 p.m. at Qwest Center Omaha.
