OMAHA, Neb. – The UNO hockey team scored two first-period goals and pulled away for a 4-0 win over Lake Superior State on Friday night at Qwest Center Omaha.  #Rich Purslow# scored two goals, and #Jeremie Dupont# earned his first shutout the year with 22 saves.

The Mavericks improve to 5-1-3 on the year and 2-1-2-1 in the CCHA.  The Lakers fell to 4-6-1 on the year and 1-5-1-0 in the conference.  The two teams meet again on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m.

The Mavericks broke on top half-way through the first period.  #Brent Gwidt shoveled the puck in front of the net to Brandon Richardson# who banged home his first collegiate goal at 10:32.

UNO doubled that lead on a powerplay later in the period.  This time, Richardson was on the giving end, passing to Purslow who tapped home his team-leading sixth goal of the year.

The Mavericks scored again early in the second period when #Ryan Kretzer# tracked down a loose puck and found Purslow alone in the slot.  He rifled home his second goal of the game to make it 3-0.

#Joey Martin completed the scoring when he knocked in the rebound of a shot by Terry Broadhurst# at 11:36 of the third period.

#Jeric Agosta# picked up two assists for the Mavericks who improve to 4-0-1 at home this season.
