OMAHA, Neb. – The University of Nebraska at Omaha women's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak Wednesday night, picking up a 69-60 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association victory over Fort Hays State at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
The senior duo of #
Cayla Hargrove and Amanda Brodsack# led the way for the Mavericks, combining for 41 points and 13 rebounds. Hargrove connected on 3-of-6 from behind the arch and led all UNO scorers with 22 points on the night.
The Mavs built a commanding 14 point lead with just over 5:30 remaining in the first half but failed to score another point in the half.
FSHU's Naomi Bancroft took over late in the first, hitting a pair of free throws and connecting on four three-pointers to lead a 14-0 Tiger charge that evened the score at 27-27 heading into halftime.
The Tigers built a seven-point lead early in the second thanks to an 11-4 run. But the Mavericks were able to fight their way back into the game.
UNO shot just 9 percent from three-point range in the first half, but managed to hit 6-of-12 from that distance in the second to full the run. Of Hargrove's 22 points, 17 came in the second half, as the Mavericks raced past the Tigers 69-60.
FSHU's Bancroft led all scores with 33 points, hitting 9-of-17 from three-point land.

UNO improves to 8-9 on the year and 5-7 in MIAA action, moving into six-place in the conference. The Mavericks will remain at home this weekend as they play host to Rockhurst (Kan.) on Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Sapp Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. CST.
