SAULT STE. MARIE – The 19th-ranked University of Nebraska at Omaha completed the Central Collegiate Hockey Association sweep of Lake Superior State University, 2-1, Saturday night at the Taffey Abel Arena in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

Jerad Kaufmann# turned in a strong performance, stopping 47 Laker shots and came up with a number of spectacular saves while junior defenseman #
Eddie DelGrosso# produced some timely offense, scoring the game-winner 9:13 into the third period.
The Mavericks weathered an early LSSU charge, as Kaufmann turned away 20 Laker shots in the first period to keep the score 0-0 heading into the first intermission.
The Lakers kept the pressure on the in the second, outshooting the Mavericks 17-3 in the frame, but it was the Mavs that struck first. Senior forward #
Dan Charleston redirected a Pasko Skarica# slap shot from the blue line past LSSU goalie Pat Inglis at 8:16 of the second period.
LSSU squared the game, 1-1, 3:19 into the third on a Fred Cassiani marker. The Lakers, however, were able to hold the lead for just six minutes. DelGrosso put the Mavericks back out front, 2-1, as he had a shot deflect off a LSSU player's stick and past Inglis midway through the final frame.
UNO held off the Lakers' final desperate push to complete the sweep.
With the win, UNO improves to 11-4-3 on the season and 7-4-3-2 in conference play. The Mavericks now hold sole possession of third place in the CCHA standings with 19 points heading into the Christmas Break.
The Mavericks get the next two weeks off, returning to action after Christmas on Dec. 29-30 when they travel to the East Coast to take on Yale and Princeton.
