JOPLIN, Mo. – Seniors #Amanda Iwansky and MaryClaire Murnan# each scored a goal to lead the University of Nebraska at Omaha soccer team to a 2-0 win over Missouri Southern in Joplin, Mo. Thursday night at Hal Bodon Field.

Iwansky got the Mavericks (11-5-0, 9-5-0 MIAA) on the scoreboard in the first half when she broke free past the Lions' (4-11-1, MIAA 2-10-1) defense and beat goalkeeper Randi Russell for the early 1-0 advantage in the 23rd minute.

Murnan padded UNO's lead when she took a pass from junior #Lindsey Nealon# and put a shot on goal that found the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season at 75:47.

Goalkeepers #Elizabeth Odorisio and Lauren Fox# anchored the Maverick defense, posting UNO's ninth shutout of the year. Odorisio earned her second straight start of the year and made one save, while Fox opened the second half of action, collecting four saves.

The Mavericks managed to out-shoot the Lions by a 12-7 margin and also held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
  
UNO will conclude its regular season next week by hosting a pair of MIAA foes. The Mavs play Southwest Baptist on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. and fifth-ranked Central Missouri on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.
