Casey Bigsby scored two goals to lead the University of Nebraska-Omaha soccer team to its seventh win in row, defeating Minnesota Duluth, 3-0, in North Central Conference action, Sunday afternoon at the UNO Soccer Field.
The Mavericks improved to 11-5 overall with the win, 9-2 in NCC play, while the Bulldogs fell to 6-8-1, and 4-5-1.
Bigsby started the scoring with some nimble dribbling through traffic on the left side at the 31:02 mark.
Erin Fosnaugh picked up her first assist of the season.
Brandie Beale added a goal early in the second half, jamming in a shot on the doorstop in traffic at 52:25. It was her fifth goal of the season, unassisted. Bigsby capped the scoring with her second of the match, and team-leading ninth of the season, at 81:36 with a hard shot from the top-left corner of the box, with
Ali Portell earning the assist, her second of the year.
Goalkeeper
Ellen Petersen made six saves to notch her fifth shutout of the season, also bringing her record to 8-5. Her counterpart, Briana Francisco, made nine saves, including one on a penalty kick. The Mavericks held a 12-6 advantage in shots on goal, with a total shot tally of 25-8.
The Mavericks finish the regular season at home against Augustana Friday at 4 p.m.
