Women’s Tennis to close road schedule at South Dakota, Kansas City

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha Women's Tennis will close its regular season road schedule at South Dakota and Kansas City this weekend. 

The Mavericks are 3-0 so far in conference play with a 13-8 record overall. Omaha has won its last four matches. Currently, Omaha is tied for first place in the conference with Denver. 

Omaha holds a 12-8 record against the Coyotes (9-12, 1-2) with a 4-3 record when playing in Vermillion. Last season, the Mavs won 5-2 in a home meeting. 

Kansas City (3-13, 0-3) leads the Mavs 5-4 all-time. The Mavericks have won the last two meetings.  

The dynamic sophomore duo of Nina Wiese (Flushing, N.Y.) and Katelynn Kock (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) has tallied 17 wins in the No. 1 doubles spot. The pair is just two wins shy of tying the single-season doubles wins record. Wiese and Kock also have both hit double digits in singles wins. Kock leads the team with 16, while Wiese has 14. Junior Khayli Buckels (Ballwin, Mo.) has 12 while freshman Shelby Smith (Leawood, Kan.) is at 10. 

Play is set to begin at 1 p.m. CT in Vermillion, S.D., on Friday, April 10, and at 2 p.m. CT in Kansas City, Mo. On Sunday, April 12. Both matches will have live stats available.
