OMAHA, Neb. –– Omaha Softball has been ranked No. 3 in the D1Softball.com and Softball America Mid-Major Rankings, it was revealed Monday.
Omaha went 2-1 last week as the regular-season comes to a close on Sunday in Vermillion. Omaha has one final non-conference test, facing cross-town rival Creighton on Tuesday, April 28 at 6 p.m. CT at the new Creighton Softball Stadium. The Mavericks, the 2026 Summit League regular-season champions, conclude league play with a three-game series at South Dakota beginning Friday, May 1.
In the final home game of the regular season, Omaha played host to the largest crowd in
Connie Claussen Field history as 2,320 fans turned out for the State of Softball showdown as No. 1/4 Nebraska visited Omaha. The game pushed Omaha to 10,706 fans this season, setting a new program season attendance record. The Cornhuskers defeated Omaha in an offensive slugfest, 11-4.
Omaha resumed conference play last week with a two-game series at North Dakota, swept by the Mavericks, 8-0 and 9-0.
Sammy Schmidt and
Marra Cramer combined for nine RBI in three games last week, while three Mavericks recorded a home run with
Taylor Sedlacek joining Cramer and Schmidt. In the circle,
Maddia Groff, the reigning Summit League Pitcher of the Year, posted a 0.78 ERA in nine innings over two games. Groff struck out 11 while allowing just one earned run.
Omaha has 22 victories in games decided by five or more runs.
The 2026 Summit League tournament will be held in Minneapolis, hosted by St. Thomas, beginning May 6.
