Softball ranked fifth in week 10 D1Softball Mid-Major Rankings

OMAHA, Neb. — Omaha Softball has moved to fifth in the Week 10 D1Softball.com Mid-Major Rankings, it was revealed Monday. Omaha was tabbed third in the Softball America week 11 mid-major poll.

The Mavericks (26-8, 8-1 Summit) took two of three from St. Thomas over the weekend, the eighth consecutive Summit League series win for Omaha.

Through nine conference games, Omaha is outscoring league foes 73-16 and had won 10 straight — the team's second-longest winning streak of the season — before falling in the series finale Sunday in St. Paul.

Senior shortstop Taylor Sedlacek leads the league in slugging percentage at .821, while Sammy Schmidt's batting average of .402 paces Omaha and the Summit League. Schmidt has recorded a hit in three straight games, the longest active hitting streak on Omaha, while Ava Rongisch and Bailey Sample have reached base safely in a team-best 15 straight outings. Schmidt follows closely behind at 14.

Katherine Johnson's 13 multi-RBI games lead the Mavericks. The mainstay at second base has recorded six games of three or more RBIs, including two games of four or more.

Omaha, the three-time defending conference tournament champion, seeks to further cement its spot atop the Summit League standings this weekend in the final conference home series of the campaign when South Dakota State visits Connie Claussen Field beginning Friday, April 17, at 6 p.m. CT. Fans can take advantage of $4 Fridays at the concession stand during the series opener. On Saturday, April 18, Omaha will recognize the 2001 NCAA Division II national championship team, and on Sunday, April 19, celebrate Senior Day.

No. 5 Nebraska visits Omaha on Tuesday, April 21, in the regular-season home finale at 6 p.m. CT in a showcase of the State of Softball. All remaining home games will stream on the Summit League Network. The matchup against the Cornhuskers will also air on Nebraska Public Media (in-state only).

Tickets for all remaining home games are on sale now at OMavs.com/Tickets or by calling 402-554-MAVS.
