DES MOINES, Iowa – Omaha Women's Tennis fell, 4-3, to Drake on the road on Saturday.
The Mavericks (7-7) were in position to beat the Bulldogs (4-7) with a 3-1 lead during singles. Drake was able to mount a comeback and win the three remaining singles matches to end the day with a win.
Sophomore Katelynn Kock (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) won the No. 3 singles match over Drake's Jordane Dookie. Kock took the first set 6-2 and followed it up with a 6-0 win in the second set to win in dominant fashion for her 10th singles victory this spring.
Fellow sophomore Nina Wiese (Flushing, N.Y.) was the other singles win in the No. 2 spot. Wiese took the first set, 6-1, over Shiori Takeda from Drake. Takeda came back in the second set to tie it up at 6-6, but Wiese took the set and the match with a 7-4 tie break win.
Omaha will head to St. Louis next weekend to face Lindenwood on Friday, March 13 and Saint Louis on Saturday, March 14.
