OMAHA, Neb. –– After a three-game sweep of North Dakota State to begin Summit League play, Omaha Softball (20-7, 3-0 Summit) returns to
Connie Claussen Field in the midst of a seven-game homestand to face cross-town rival Creighton in the first of two meetings between the Mavericks and Bluejays (15-17, 7-2 BIG EAST). First pitch is set for 6 p.m. CT on the Summit League Network.
The Mavericks, ranked second in the D1Softball Mid-Major Poll and third in the Softball America Mid-Major Rankings, are 13-20 all-time against Creighton, although Omaha has won three of the last five meetings, including a two-game sweep of the Bluejays last season. Creighton has won three straight on the season and the Mavericks have won their last four outings.

Alexis Wiggins (Adams, Neb.) began her collegiate career down Dodge Street and Maverick assistant coach
Jen Brauer (Daro) played four seasons for Creighton, appearing in nearly 200 games for the Bluejays. Brauer, from Omaha, was named to the 2014 BIG EAST All-Academic Team.
Omaha junior left-handed pitcher
Maddia Groff was named the Kwik Star Summit League Peak Pitcher of the Week, after tossing 6.2 scoreless innings for the Mavericks in two appearances (1-0, one save). Groff allowed just two hits and one walk, holding North Dakota State batters to a .087 average at the plate. She struck out 10.
Of the 12 Mavericks on this year's roster from the state of Nebraska, eight hail from the Omaha Metro.
Mike Heard's Mavericks have homered in 15 straight games dating back to Feb. 22 vs. Kennesaw State.
