SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Omaha Softball junior outfielder
Sammy Schmidt was named the Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer, it was announced Tuesday.
Schmidt, a Hastings, Nebraska native, went 6-for-10 in a 3-1 weekend for the Mavericks as Omaha swept Utah Tech and split with BYU, including a five-inning no-hitter over the Cougars.
She leads Omaha in batting average (.417) and is fourth in total bases (45). Schmidt recorded at least two runs scored in three of her four outings in St. George, Utah, totaling nine RBI over four games with a pair of homers.
Schmidt and the reigning Summit League regular-season and tournament champions return to
Connie Claussen Field to open the home slate with a seven-game homestand on Friday, March 20 at 2 p.m. CT vs. North Dakota State. The first 250 fans receive replica championship rings.
