ST. LOUIS – Omaha Women's Tennis defeated Saint Louis, 4-2, on the road on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Nina Wiese (Flushing, N.Y.) secured the match win for the Mavericks (9-7) with her win in singles. In the No. 2 flight, Wiese beat SLU's (5-7) Fiorella Duran 6-4, 6-1 for her 11th singles win of the dual season.
In doubles, the Mavs clinched the point quickly. Wiese and sophomore Katelynn Kock (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) won 6-0 in the No. 1 spot over SLU's Emmerson White and Madison Hill. Wiese and Kock are 13-2 in doubles so far this spring, all in the No. 1 flight.
"Another great win in gusty conditions," head coach Adam Summitt said. "We played another round of great doubles. Singles-wise, Saint Louis was crafty and really competed to make us earn every point. We have two more nonconference matches to prepare for Summit League play. We have to continue to bring the energy and right attitude to compete."
The Mavericks will head west for their final matches of the nonconference slate. Omaha will face Cal State Northridge at 11:30 a.m. CT on Thursday, March 19 and UC Riverside at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 21. Live stats will be available for both matches.
