Omaha Athletics announces Control Services as first-ever jersey sponsor for the Maverick Hockey Program

OMAHA, Neb. (Feb. 27, 2026) – Omaha Athletics announced Friday that Omaha-based Control Services has signed a multi-year agreement to become the first-ever uniform patch sponsor for Maverick Hockey. The sponsorship was facilitated through its exclusive multimedia rights holder, Learfield's Omaha Sports Properties.

With this announcement, Omaha becomes the first known non-Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) institution to formalize a uniform patch sponsorship, the first in college men's ice hockey and the first within the Division I-AAA subdivision. Back on Jan. 23, the Division I Cabinet approved a proposal that will allow Division I sports programs to place additional commercial logos or patches on uniforms, equipment and apparel for any non-NCAA championship competition, including the regular season, effective Aug. 1, 2026.

Omaha is now also the first DI institution in the state of Nebraska to have a uniform patch sponsor.

"This is a historic moment for Omaha Athletics and our hockey program. As the revenue landscape of college athletics continues to evolve, it is critical that we pursue innovative opportunities that directly support our student-athletes and position Maverick sport programs to be successful in this new era," said Adrian Dowell, Vice Chancellor / Director of Athletics.

Dowell continued, "To do this alongside an Omaha-based company like Control Services — longtime supporters, alumni and passionate champions of our hockey program — makes this partnership especially meaningful. The Brasel family's generosity has been instrumental to the success of Maverick Hockey, and we're excited they are once again helping lead us into the future."

Control Services Inc. specializes in fully integrated and leading-edge technologies to serve the needs of commercial, institutional and industrial customers. They are committed to providing high-quality service that exceeds our customers' expectations. This will be accomplished by offering design, installation and service solutions for customers' automation and security requirements, whether for conventional, specialized or unique applications.

"Our team is proud to expand our partnership with Control Services through this landmark opportunity," said Omaha Sports Properties General Manager Brianna Chavez. "As a longtime supporter of Omaha Athletics, their leadership in becoming our first ever jersey patch sponsor marks a tremendous moment for our department and our university. Today represents student-athletes. Today represents a truly historic milestone for our program."

Ron Brasel, CEO and owner of Control Services, was born and raised in Omaha and attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha. President Jason Brasel, also an Omaha native, is a UNO alum. Control Services have been longtime supporters of Omaha Hockey, avid fans of the Mavericks in addition to being philanthropic supporters and Baxter Arena suite holders.
In addition to the uniform patch, Control Services expands its partnership with Omaha Athletics to include premium assets (two goal line in-ice logos) and other signage around the boards and venue.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue our long-standing partnership with UNO and Omaha Athletics and for Control Services Inc. to be the first company in the state to be represented on athletic jerseys," said Ron and Jason Brasel.

"This jersey sponsorship reflects more than brand visibility, it represents a shared commitment to the student-athletes, the university community and the future growth of Maverick Athletics. We're honored to stand alongside UNO as they continue building momentum and creating new opportunities, on and off the ice. We look forward to celebrating this next chapter together and supporting Omaha Athletics for years to come."
