OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha Softball (12-1) has been ranked second in the week three D1Softball Mid-Major Rankings, it was revealed Monday. The Mavericks finished the Troy Invitational 3-1 with the lone loss to the host Trojans, Omaha's first loss and shutout of the campaign.
Three Maverick pitchers (
Maddia Groff,
Alexis Wiggins and
Alyson Edwards) combined for a perfect game, Omaha's sixth since 2000, in a 7-0 win to kickoff the weekend over Kennesaw State.
Coming up, the Mavericks face Arkansas, currently No. 7 in the nation, twice, in addition to Mid-Major No. 7 Charlotte and Mid-Major No. 22 Boise State. Omaha defeated the Broncos 2-0 back on Feb. 14. Omaha also faces Kansas. The Razorback Invitational takes place in Fayetteville, Arkansas from Feb. 26-28. Only Omaha's games vs. Arkansas will be streamed (SEC Network+).
The Mavericks play their first games in the state of Nebraska on March 7 and 8 against the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln.
