Glover ties career high in Senior Night win over ORU

OMAHA, Neb. - Senior guard Ja'Sean Glover made the most of his senior night Wednesday at Baxter Arena.

Glover hit a career-best six 3-pointers and matched a career high with 26 points in an 80-71 win for Omaha Men's Basketball over Oral Roberts in the final home game of the season.

Four other Mavs scored at least nine points. Lance Waddles led that quartet, as he had 12 of his 14 points in the final 17 minutes to help Omaha maintain a double-digit lead for most of the half.

Grant Stubblefield had another solid all-around game with 13 points, six assists and four rebounds. Valentino Simon had nine points, a team-best seven rebounds and two blocked shots, while Tony Osburn hit three 3-pointers and had nine points and five rebounds.

Glover and Osburn, the "Day 1 Guys," have played all four seasons at Omaha since head coach Chris Crutchfield was hired in 2022.

"The support has grown every single year I've been here, and I appreciate that," said Osburn, who said he had between 60 and 70 friends and family members at the game.

With the win, Omaha (15-14, 8-6 Summit) is a season-best two games over .500 in conference play as it remains in fourth place in the league standings. Omaha has won six of its last eight games.

Omaha held a double-digit lead for most of the final 25 minutes after a back-and-forth start.

There were eight lead changes in the first seven minutes as Oral Roberts (6-22, 1-12 Summit), which snapped a 13-game losing streak last week against Kansas City, was up 14-13.

But on the next possession, Glover hit the first of his six 3-pointers as the shot clock was expiring, and Omaha led the rest of the night.

When Osburn hit his third 3-pointer of the night at the 7:15 mark, Omaha's lead was 28-19. Glover added two more treys from the left side as the lead ballooned to 34-21.

Omaha was 8 of 17 from the 3-point line in the first 15 minutes and went into the locker room with a 43-30 lead at the break. The Mavericks extended the margin to 55-38 five minutes into the second half when Waddles and Glover hit threes on back-to-back possessions.

Oral Roberts never got closer than nine after that. Osburn said getting that quick lead was crucial.

"It was big-time going against a team that's struggled. I know what it's like to be on a team like that. They're going to fight the whole way," Osburn said.

Omaha, which finished the night with a 35-24 rebounding edge, recognized a large senior class before the game. Besides Glover, Waddles and Osburn, seniors honored were Christian Richardson, Valentino Simon, Kamryn Thomas, Isaac Ondekane, Deng Mayar (posthumous) and manager Sam Ryan.

Omaha plays its final two games of the regular season on the road, beginning next Wednesday at South Dakota at 6 p.m. CT on CBS Sports Network.
