Men's Basketball's three game win streak snapped at South Dakota

VERMILLION, S.D. — South Dakota led from start to finish as the Omaha men had their three-game winning streak snapped Wednesday, 89-72.

Paul Djobet led three Mavericks in double figures with team highs of 18 points and eight rebounds. Ja'Sean Glover added 15 points for his eighth straight game in double figures, while Tony Osburn had 11 points and seven rebounds.

The loss drops Omaha (15-15) to 8-7 in the Summit League.

Omaha, which lost to the Coyotes 68-64 last month, outrebounded South Dakota 35-33 and committed only 10 turnovers, but the Mavericks faced an uphill battle all night.

The Coyotes led 10-2 in the opening minutes, and midway through the half Omaha was down 25-15 as the Mavericks were 4 of 15 from the field.

Omaha hit eight of its last 11 shots from the field in the half, but the Mavericks weren't able to cut into the lead as they trailed 45-35 at the break.

The margin was 51-42 less than four minutes into the second half when the Mavericks went scoreless for nearly the next five minutes.

That allowed South Dakota to go on a 16-1 run as its lead ballooned to 67-43. Omaha never got closer than 15 after that.

Omaha will play its regular-season finale Saturday at St. Thomas at 7 p.m. CT.
