Omaha Athletics announces MCL Construction as first-ever jersey sponsor for the Maverick Men’s Basketball Program

OMAHA, Neb. (June 29, 2026) – Omaha Athletics announced Monday that Omaha-based MCL Construction has signed a multi-year agreement to become the first-ever uniform patch sponsor for Maverick Men's Basketball. The sponsorship was facilitated through its exclusive multimedia rights holder, Learfield's Omaha Sports Properties.

With this announcement, Omaha becomes the first Summit League institution to have a men's basketball jersey patch sponsor and the first among the three Nebraska NCAA Division I institutions. Previously, Omaha announced Control Services as the first-ever jersey patch sponsor for the Maverick Hockey Program which was the first in college hockey.

Earlier this year, the NCAA Division I Cabinet approved a proposal that will allow Division I sports programs to place additional commercial logos or patches on uniforms, equipment and apparel for any non-NCAA championship competition, including the regular season, effective Aug. 1, 2026.

"This partnership with MCL Construction is another significant step forward for Omaha Athletics and our men's basketball program," said Adrian Dowell, vice chancellor / director of athletics. "As college athletics continues to evolve, innovative partnerships like this create new opportunities to invest directly in our student-athletes while aligning with organizations that share our commitment to excellence. Revenues generated through jersey patch sponsorships are an important part of our strategy as we navigate the impacts of the House settlement to position Omaha Athletics for long-term success in the revenue-sharing era."

Dowell continued, "MCL has been an impactful partner to our university, helping shape the future of Omaha Athletics as the CMR of our recently announced Omaha Athletics Training Facility and Clubhouse capital projects. We are again proud to partner with an Omaha-based company that believes in our student-athletes and the continued rise of a program coming off a recent transformational championship and March Madness appearance."
