Women's Basketball falls to St. Thomas

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Freshman Regan Juenemann (Crosby, Minn.) scored 13 points and was one of three Mavericks in double figures, but the Omaha Women's Basketball team never led Saturday in a 73-43 loss at St. Thomas.

It was the fifth time in the past six games that Juenemann scored in double figures. She is averaging 14.8 points during that span.

Graduate Sarai Estupiñan (Cedar Park, Texas) added 12 points and freshman Leekaya Burke Perryman (Colorado Springs, Colo.) chipped in 10 points.

St. Thomas (13-13, 6-6 Summit League) hit its first five shots from the field as it opened a double-digit lead in the first quarter.

Juenemann hit a 3-pointer with 7:15 left in the first half to pull Omaha (4-24, 2-11) within 21-13, but St. Thomas expanded its lead from there.

St. Thomas shot 56.9 percent from the field while holding Omaha to 31.9 percent (15 of 47).

Freshman Avril Smith (Omaha, Neb.) led Omaha in rebounding with eight, and she also had three steals.

Omaha, which started this road trip with a 65-58 win at Denver, will play its final road game of the regular season on Thursday, Feb. 19 at South Dakota. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
