CHICAGO – Omaha Women's Tennis dropped to DePaul, 6-1, on the road on Friday.
 
The Mavericks' (2-5) lone point came from sophomore Katelynn Kock (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) win at No. 3 singles. Kock lost the first set 7-5 to DePaul's Clara Nilsson, but came back to win the second 6-3. Since the match had already been clinched, Kock and Nilsson played a 10-point set to close out the match which Kock won 10-8.
 
Senior Jacqueline Pearsall (Centennial, Colo.) and freshman Shelby Smith (Leawood, Kan.) did win at No. 2 doubles with a 6-1 victory over DePaul's Yasemin Pehlivan and Sasha Stula.
 
"DePaul was a fierce team today and they deserved the win," head coach Adam Sumitt said. "We could not convert the deuce points in doubles and that was what hurt us to start. Singles we competed really well. We had a chance to be in a winning position today but couldn't convert. Proud of the energy today. A big turnaround from yesterday."
 
The Mavericks will play a neutral-site match against Montana in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. CT.
