SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Six Omaha baseball players earned All-Summit League Honors, the conference announced Tuesday. Senior infielder Henry Zipay was crowned Summit League Player of the Year, the fourth Maverick in program history to win the award.
Zipay, junior infielder Tyler Bishop, and senior outfielder Jackson Trout earned spots on the All-League First Team. Senior pitcher Ben Weber was named to the All-League Second Team, graduate outfielder Tyler Palmer and freshman pitcher Tanner Foertsch were named Honorable Mention All-League.
Omaha native Zipay was near the top of the Summit League ranks in numerous categories, including leading the conference with a .397 batting average at the plate this year, a 0.488 on base percentage and five triples in his senior campaign.
The Mavericks' regular third baseman has finished the regular season reaching bases safely in 29 straight games.
Bishop led Omaha with 48 RBI and eight home runs, ranking fourth and tied for fifth in the Summit League following the regular season's conclusion. Bishop also tied for the league lead with six sacrifice flies.
Trout sits in fourth in the Summit League in batting average (.344), tied for fourth in hit by pitch (11), seventh in hits (66) and has the 10th most stolen bases in the conference (7).
Weber has held opponents to a .243 batting average, the fourth-best by a Summit League pitcher. His 4.42 ERA leads Omaha and is the sixth-lowest in the league. He has struck out the sixth-most batters in the conference at 58 and has only allowed one triple, which is tied for the league lead.
Palmer ranks seventh in the Summit League (leads Omaha) with 10 stolen bases and is eighth in the conference with a 0.419 on-base percentage.
Foertsch wrapped up his freshman regular season by striking out 36 batters and 10 looking, which is the third-most among Maverick pitchers.
