OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha softball has been tabbed No. 21 in the D1 Softball Mid-Major Rankings for the second straight week, it was revealed Wednesday morning.
The Mavericks enter their final pair of non-conference games with a record of 35-10 overall and 14-4 in the Summit League. Following the doubleheader at Wisconsin on Friday, May 2, Omaha heads to Brookings, S.D. for the 2025 Summit League Championship.
Omaha will be the one seed in the tournament.
Mike Heard's club has made waves in the national statistical rankings this season as the Mavericks rank nationally in doubles per game (31st), fielding percentage (6th) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (8th).
Sophomore left-handed pitcher
Maddia Groff's ERA of 1.33 is the sixth best in the nation and her strikeout-to-walk ratio of 10.10 is the third best in Division I. Her 212 strikeouts rank seventh. Groff is one of two pitchers in Division I, joining only Iowa's Jalen Adams, to record 22 victories this season, tying for the third-most in the nation.
Groff's career ERA of 1.20 in 72 appearances over two seasons ranks only behind Texas Tech's NiJaree Canady (0.73) in the national career rankings (Division I only).
