OMAHA, NEB. – Omaha women's soccer head coach
Tim Walters has signed a multi-year contract extension, keeping the Mavericks' gaffer at the helm of the program he's led since 2017.
"It was nearly two years ago when Coach Walters and our women's soccer program ignited the current momentum in our department by capturing a Summit League title and securing the first-ever NCAA Division I tournament appearance by a women's program at UNO," said Vice Chancellor / Director of Athletics
Adrian Dowell. "Since that transformative moment, Coach Walters has continued to lead a productive program with deep ties to our local soccer community. We are excited about the future of our women's soccer program under his direction."
Walters has 60 wins to his name as he heads into his ninth season leading Omaha in 2025. Since his arrival, Omaha women's soccer has qualified for the league tournament in all but one season, including three championship final appearances.
The 2024 Mavericks finished 10-3-5 with a .694 winning percentage, the largest in Walters' tenure.
Over his eight seasons leading Omaha the Mavericks have enjoyed: 32 All-Summit League honorees; five All-Region selections; one Summit League Offensive Player of the Year; one Summit League Defensive Player of the Year; one Summit League Goalkeeper of the Year and one Summit League Newcomer of the Year.
"I want to first thank Vice Chancellor / Director of Athletics
Adrian Dowell, as well as Chancellor Joanne Li for their unwavering support of myself and Omaha women's soccer," said Walters.
He continued, "I'd also like to thank
Matt Maher,
Lindsey Ekwerekwu and
Brian Carey for their support and guidance during my time here. I am thrilled to continue coming to work each day and working with a fantastic group of players, as well as a top-class support staff. My wife Molly and our children have loved being a part of the Omaha family the past 15 years and we are looking forward to continuing to compete for championships here at UNO."
