OMAHA, Neb. - More than 1,500 fans attended Wednesday's Omaha softball matchup with No. 20 Nebraska as 1,537 spectators turned out for the in-state matchup. The crowd was the largest for an Omaha softball game at
Connie Claussen Field.
Omaha fell to 20-8 with the 5-0 setback to the Cornhuskers, while Nebraska improved to 24-8 with the shutout win.
A grand slam in the first by Olivia DiNardo put the Huskers up four, while the Mavericks lone hit with a double by
Sammy Schmidt in the second inning. DiNardo batted in all-five Husker runs after a double in the fifth to make it a 5-0 ballgame.
Jordy Bahl tossed a complete game for Nebraska striking out 13 on 82 pitches, allowing just one hit.
Maddia Groff tossed five innings for Omaha before
Grace Hornbuckle came on in relief.
Omaha returns to action this weekend with a three-game series against North Dakota as Summit League play resumes. All of the action will stream on the Summit League Network.
