SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Omaha softball (11-2) fell Sunday in the weekend finale to Michigan State 3-0 at Roadrunner Field.
Omaha was no-hit until the top of the fifth when
Marra Cramer singled up the middle. The Mavericks stranded eight baserunners in the setback.
Michigan State opened the scoring in the home fifth after a Hannah Hawley three-run home run to right center field.
Alexis Wiggins made the start in the circle for the Mavericks, recording four strikeouts in 4.0 innings pitched. She was relieved by
Maddia Groff who struck out three in two innings of relief work.
Omaha leads west next week for the Louisville Slugger Invitational, hosted by Long Beach State. The Mavericks take on Pitt to start things off on Friday, Feb. 28 at 1:30 p.m. CT.
