OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Women's Basketball head coach
Jamie Carey adds two more to the 2025-26 squad after midseason tryouts.
Joining the Mavericks are Lainey Maehl and Reilly Palmer.
"We are excited to welcome Lainey and Reilly to our team for the remainder of the season," Carey said. "Both had successful high school careers and come to us with some previous experience in college basketball. They are both hard working, selfless by nature and willing to help in any way."
Lainey Maehl
Maehl played at Iowa Central Community College for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons before transferring to Omaha. During her time with the Tritons, Maehl earned an all-tournament team nod and an all-region nod. She started 46 games and played a total of 56 in her two seasons with an average of 8.6 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. Maehl was an all-conference honoree in basketball and volleyball her senior year at Fort Dodge Senior where she was also academic all-state.
Reilly Palmer
Palmer led Elkhorn North to back-to-back state championships as a junior and senior. She was named all-conference first team as a sophomore, junior and senior and garnered an all-conference honorable mention as a freshman. The Omaha native earned an academic all-state honor as a senior. In one semester at College of Saint Mary, Palmer shot 55.6% from the field and averaged 9.3 minutes per game.
